Hello Visual Arts Guild!

We hope you are enjoying summer break. Read on for a few pieces of news and info to keep you up to date over the summer.

Tuesday, June 13 is the Dallas Historical Society's Brown Bag Lunch Lecture Series featuring Nitashia Johnson. 

Nitashia is a 2008 BTW graduate and a 2012 graduate of Texas Woman’s University. She created The Self Publication, a photographic series created to uplift the black community while dismantling harsh stereotypes associated with the culture, and created The Smart Project, a creative after-school program for artistic teens. Most recently, she served on our senior scholarship panel.

At this Brown Bag Lunch Lecture Series event, she will discuss her photography project, and book The Beauty of South Dallas. You can reserve a free ticket online.

Let us know if you are planning to attend so we can meet Ms. Johnson after her presentation.

Pegasus Pick Up (PPU) is scheduled for July 31 - August 2. For our incoming families, Pegasus Pick Up is Booker T's take on registration. Each class is assigned a day to get their schedules, pick up laptops, books, locker assignments and parking passes, take photo and yearbook IDs, and join the PTSA and guild.

Seniors and juniors are Monday, July 31. Sophomores are Tuesday, August 1 and freshmen are Wednesday, August 2.

Incoming students also have Flight School on Friday, August 4. This is a chance for students to spend a day at the school, learn their schedule, and hear from current BTW students and faculty.

We will send info on both PPU and Flight School as we receive it. 

If you are interested in volunteering during PPU, check out the sign up. Volunteers will man the Visual Arts Guild table, sell merchandise, help families join the guild, and answer questions. Parents and students are welcome to volunteer!

Class of 2024 - here are some important dates for you. 

The Senior Activities Committee is looking for a t-shirt design for the Class of 2024 t-shirt. Submit a design by June 30. All submissions will be presented to the senior class for a vote. The winning design will go to print over the summer so that your t-shirts will be ready for your first week back to school! 

And be sure to submit your t-shirt size by June 30. Shirts are provided by the PTSA and will be handed out the first week of school. If you don't specify your size, you'll have to choose from leftover sizes.

Mark your calendar for Monday, July 31. During Pegasus Pick Up, we will take senior headshots in the Hudson Gallery. We'll have more details and a sign up very soon. We will also have a makeup day if you aren't able to make July 31.
