Good evening Visual Arts parents, students and supporters! Fall break begins Monday, November 20, but before then there are LOTS of events, opportunities and deadlines.

• Saturday, November 11: Faculty member Juan Cruz solo exhibit, 6-9 p.m.
• Sunday, November 12: Last day to submit artwork for the Reflections program
• Tuesday, November 14: Deadline to submit artwork for the Blue Print Gallery competition
• Wednesday, November 15: Set up for College Showcase
• Thursday, November 16: College Showcase begins! Set up starts at 7:45 a.m.
• Thursday, November 16: Senior Showcase exhibit and reception in the Hudson Gallery, 5-7 p.m.
• Friday, November 17: Showcase continues and concludes with the College Fair from 3:30-6 p.m.

Showcase is a busy and exciting week for our students and faculty. The Visual Arts Conservatory will be welcoming representatives from 15 schools to review portfolios with our seniors. These guests will also be teaching masterclasses open to our juniors and seniors. 9th-10th grade students will hear from a variety of professionals on Career Day.

You can see a full schedule of events in the online Showcase program. You are also welcome to attend public events like the Evening of Dance performance at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, the Senior Film Showcase at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 17, and of course, the Senior Showcase exhibit and reception from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, November 16.

Our Showcase committee will start setting up the student hospitality suite on Wednesday, November 15. Thursday and Friday we will host hospitality suites for guests, faculty and students. There are a few remaining volunteer slots. Please check out the sign up and volunteer where you can.

• 10:45 a.m.: We need 9th-11th grade parents to help set up lunch in the guest hospitality suite. 

Friday, November 17

• 8:15 a.m.: We need 1-2 parents to help greet guests and direct them to the hospitality suite.
• 10:45 a.m.: We need 9th-11th grade parents to help set up lunch in the guest hospitality suite.
• 12 p.m.: We need 1-2 parents to help greet guests and direct them to the hospitality suite.
• 12:30 p.m.: We need 1 volunteer to help serve the senior dessert and monitor the senior hospitality suite.
• 1:45 p.m.: We need 1 parent to help monitor the guest hospitality suite.

• Thursday, December 7: National Art Honor Society reception, Hudson Gallery, 5-7 p.m.
• Tuesday, December 12: PTSA general membership meeting at 6 p.m. in the Commons, Visual Arts Guild meeting at 7 p.m.
• Wednesday, December 13 - Friday, December 15: Visual Arts Winter Market, 12:45-1:40 p.m. in the Green Room (weather permitting) and Zero Floor
• Monday, December 18: Booker T. Angels 

Booker T Angels is an annual tradition where the PTSA, Student Council and Guilds host five families from HI Holland Elementary. We'll adopt a family, shop their wish list for holiday gifts, and host a holiday celebration at HI Holland on Monday, December 18. We're finalizing details, but we'll need 1-2 volunteers to help organize gift donations and deliver gifts to the families at H. I. Holland Elementary School. If you're looking for a short-term but meaningful volunteer opportunity, this one's for you! Parents and students are welcome to volunteer.
