Good evening Visual Arts Class parents, guardians and students!

Even though it's summer, the Visual Arts Guild and the BTW PTSA are planning the 2024-25 school year. 

First up is Pegasus Pick Up, July 29-31. You will receive complete details from the school, but the basic schedule is listed below. If your student is new to Booker T but not an incoming freshmen, they will attend Pegasus Pick Up on their scheduled day but are also invited to attend Flight School for new students on Monday, July 29 from 1-4:15 p.m. RSVP for Flight School to get complete details.

Seniors, look for the Visual Arts Conservatory senior headshot sign up very soon. Students can sign up for a headshot on July 31 during Pegasus Pick Up, and we'll schedule a second day after school starts. We encourage every senior to sit for a headshot. They are posted outside Mr. Clark's room on the senior wall, and used throughout the year at Portfolio Day, College Showcase, senior exhibits and the senior dinner. For $25 the student will get one free digital download. Students can pay with cash, check or credit the day of their session.

In addition to conservatory headshots, seniors have a yearbook and 'personality pose' session with Angela Navarette Photography. The basic session is free but additional packages are available. These photos will be taken August 5-7 at BTW. You must sign up on the photographer's website.

Students, the Senior Activities Committee is looking for designs for the class t-shirt. Submit your idea on the PTSA website by July 14. Don't forget to also pre-order your senior t-shirt. Order by July 14 to reserve your size.

Seniors should plan to attend Pegasus Pick up on Wednesday, July 31. 

• Students with last name A-M are scheduled from 9:30-11:30 a.m. 
• Last name N-Z is scheduled for 1:30-4 p.m. 
• There will be a student social from 12-1 p.m. in the Green Room. 
• Senior parents are encouraged to attend Parent University from 12-1 p.m. in the Black Box.

Plan to attend Pegasus Pick up on Tuesday, July 30. 

• There will be a social for rising juniors in the Green Room from 1-1:30 p.m.
• Parents are invited to Parent University from 1-1:30 p.m. in the Black Box.
• Rising juniors register from 1:30-4 p.m.

• There will be a social for rising sophomores in the Green Room from 8-8:30 a.m.
• Parents are invited to Parent University from 8-8:30 a.m. in the Black Box.
• Rising sophomores register from 9-11:30 a.m.

Plan to attend Pegasus Pick up on Monday, July 29. 

• Incoming freshmen register from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Parents are encouraged to attend with their students. Please allow up to two hours to complete registration.
• Incoming freshmen will have lunch and a social from 12-1 p.m. 
• Flight School for incoming freshmen is from 1-4:15 p.m. Flight School is for students only. Please RSVP for Flight School and lunch by July 22. Students are encouraged to wear the t-shirt they received at I Am Booker T Day in April.
• Parents of incoming freshmen are invited to Parent University from 12-1 p.m. in the Black Box.

We have two volunteer opportunities this summer and appreciate your time and donations to support these events. Read on or email btwvisualarts@gmail.com for details.

• Pegasus Pick Up, July 29-31: Parents and students are encouraged to sign up for a shift during Pegasus Pick Up, our annual registration event. Our volunteers will man merchandise and membership tables, collect art supply fees from students, and promote the Visual Arts Guild. Get the details and sign up today!
• Faculty Back-To-School Breakfast, August 7: Each guild hosts a breakfast for all faculty the week before school, and we are hosting Wednesday, August 7. We need a few volunteers to help set up, serve and clean up from 7:30-9:30 a.m. We're also looking for monetary donations to offset the cost. Donations in any amount are appreciated! Visit the website, customize your donation, and indicate it is for teacher appreciation.

As a reminder, basic membership in the guild is free, but you need to create your Membership Toolkit account and provide a valid email address so you can receive our newsletter.
