Good morning Visual Arts parents, guardians, students and supporters! Read on for the latest Visual Arts news and info.

Some highlights:

• National Art Honor Society application deadline is October 15. Late applications will not be considered. 
• YoungArts application deadline is October 17. (Seniors have to apply to be considered for a senior show.)
• Visual Arts Guild social is at 6:30 p.m. on October 22 at Oil & Cotton.
• Hispanic Heritage tickets will go on sale soon. Playbill ads are available. Volunteers and donations are appreciated!
• Booker T LIVE returns to Strauss Square on Friday, October 25. Tickets are available now!
• ICYMI: No school October 10-11 and October 14.

Don't forget - the October PTSA meeting is Tuesday, October 8 at 6 p.m. We do not have a guild meeting. Make plans to join us at our social on October 22!

Students, be sure to check the digital call board for the latest opportunities, contests and workshops. This week:

• 10th-12th grade students can apply for National Art Honor Society. Applications are due October 15. Get the details and apply online.
• October 17 is the deadline to apply for YoungArts. Any 15-18 year old visual, literary or performing artist can apply but SENIORS ARE REQUIRED to submit an application to be eligible for a senior show at BTW.
• February 2025 is the deadline to submit an entry for the annual Bill Neale Automotive Award, which is open to all 9th-12th grade students. Original, signed artwork (using watercolor, acrylic and/or oil - no digital artwork) will be accepted. See the online call board or the Bill Neale website for details.
• The 2024-25 PTA Reflections program opens soon. This year's theme is Accepting Imperfections. All students in grades 9-12 can participate. Categories include dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. Get the details on the PTSA website.

Our next exhibit is New Works, featuring art of our 9th-11th grade students. The opening reception is Thursday, October 17 from 5-7 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help set up, host and clean up.

Make plans to join us for our fall social at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22 at Oil & Cotton. We'll provide light bites and soft drinks. Bring your favorite beverage. 

Thank you to our Class of 2025 photographer Nicki Behm for another year of amazing photos of our seniors. Make sure you stop outside Mr. Clark's room (170) to see the photos on the senior wall.

Booker T LIVE, the annual music festival showcasing and benefitting BTWHSPVA, returns to Strauss Square Friday, October 25 at 7:30 p.m. This year's lineup includes guest artist and headliner ISHI along with alumni performances from American Idol contestant Tippy Balady, Kole (with special guest Remy Reilly,) John AQUA, and DJ Amarji, and Southern Ballroom Princess. Current students performing include AKA + 2, Dallas Observer 2024 Winner Best Student Band Death By Monkey, i45, KAATII, RJ and Friends, Session07, and WIMEC. LIVE will also offer food, beverages, merch tents, tarot card readers, tooth gem artistry, lawn games, local + Booker T. student artisans selling their work and more! Tickets ($30 general admission, $10 student admission) are on sale now.

Proceeds benefit all BTW conservatories so get your tickets and invite your friends and family!
