STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES

The Creative Arts Center of Dallas is offering a free live figure drawing workshop to our students. Classes are from 3-6 p.m. Saturdays, March 22-May 10, at the CAC (2360 Laughlin Dr, Dallas, TX 75228). Students MUST REGISTER to reserve a spot. Please note, this is a classical figure drawing class with a live model. Visit the CAC website for details on the class and how to register for free. (Side note: my student took this class so if you have any questions, please feel free to email me.)

The PTSA's Summer Scholarship application is now open. Eligible students (9th-11th grade) can get up to $500 toward a summer academic, performing or visual arts intensive or enrichment. Visit the PTSA Membership Toolkit for details.

VOLUNTEER IN 2025-26

On Wednesday, March 19, we will have a virtual guild meeting to review spring events and volunteer needs for next year. If you are interested in serving in any capacity next year, please join the call at 6:30 p.m.

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to serve next year. Please note: we still need to fill the roles of president, treasurer, membership and communications.

As president you can take on as many responsibilities as you have time and interest for, but you can also build a great team and delegate. This role is essential to serve as the liaison between the school, faculty and guild membership.

We are required to have a treasurer. All our financial information is contained in Membership Toolkit. A treasurer would assist with the budget and provide any financial reporting required by the school. You would also be a signer on the guild account. The faculty cannot have direct access to guild funds so without a treasurer or signer on the account, we have no way of supporting the conservatory financially.

A membership chair helps recruit volunteers for membership events (specifically I Am Booker T Day and Pegasus Pick Up) and manages membership information via Membership Toolkit.

The communications chair updates the website, posts social media, and distributes the weekly newsletter.

As you may know, the school does not provide volunteer or financial support to the conservatories. Without the support of our guild and its members, we will have to scale back.

SPRING BREAK EVENTS

Saturday, March 8 is the annual Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas (CADD) Spring Gallery Walk from 12-5 p.m. The event is free and features walkthroughs of current exhibitions at 13 galleries. Visit the website for maps and details.

Oil & Cotton features several kids' camps during spring break - everything from jewelry to totes to painting to clay. Visit the Oil & Cotton website for details.
